Welcome to Old Dogs Rock — where a love for dogs (especially the old) meets music, nostalgia and laughter

ABOUT OLD DOGS ROCK
We celebrate dogs and music with our whole hearts here. We’re visual storytellers across musical genres with a huge sense of humor—drawn to new sounds, collabs, and how music evolves. We get excited about music in a way that demands a creative outlet, and this platform is exactly that for us. In honor of our sweet namesake Rocky, who passed in 2024 from Canine Cognitive Dysfunction (CCD), we share occasional, non-medical tips and information to help others spot the signs. Thanks for visiting our little creative corner full of dogs, new and old tunes, nostalgia, and a sprinkle of CCD awareness

Feb. 14, 2026 marks 50 years since Heart’s Dreamboat Annie debuted in the U.S.—their first full-length album, and still one of the most iconic rock debuts ever. Led by Ann Wilson (that powerhouse voice) and Nancy Wilson (acoustic fire + electric bite), the original era lineup also featured Roger Fisher, Howard Leese, Steve Fossen, and Michael DeRosier. The album delivered the classics “Magic Man” and “Crazy on You” (plus the dreamy “Dreamboat Annie” threads woven throughout), climbed as high as No. 7 on the Billboard 200, and stayed on the charts for 100 weeks—a true multi-platinum legacy record. And this year it earned a fresh wave of honor: Dreamboat Annie was inducted into the GRAMMY Hall of Fame (Class of 2026)—a perfect reminder that some albums don’t just age… they deepen.

🎵 What We’re Listening To
🎶 Tyler Ramsey & Carl Broemel — Celestun
Released January 15, Celestun feels like the quiet moment before the world fully wakes — that soft stretch of time when light slips through the window and everything feels possible, but unhurried. It’s warm, inviting, and deeply peaceful. Like a good friend. Like the very first cup of tea or coffee in the morning.
This album looks to be the result of a long-simmering friendship turned creative collaboration. Tyler Ramsey and Carl Broemel first crossed paths back in 2012 while touring with their respective bands — Tyler with Band of Horses, and Carl with My Morning Jacket. Years of mutual respect and parallel musical paths eventually led them here — to Celestun, their first full-length album together.
On this record, Tyler Ramsey brings vocals, acoustic guitar, electric guitar, and keyboards. Carl Broemel weaves in acoustic and electric guitar, pedal steel, and vocals. The result is an album that blends acoustic songwriting with atmospheric, instrumental folk.
The Secret Sisters make a beautiful featured appearance on “Flying Things,” adding their signature harmonies — soft, luminous, and emotionally grounding.
Tyler is from Asheville, North Carolina; Carl from Indianapolis, Indiana — two different places, two different histories, meeting in a shared musical language that feels rooted, reflective, and deeply human. Truly connected.
This is a press-play-and-let-it-roll kind of album. No skipping. Every track earns its place, each one carrying its own mood and moment.
💥 Our Favorite Tracks:
🌅 “Celestun” (Video attached)
The perfect way to start a day.
The sun is waking up. The world is quiet. Just for a moment.
🌾 “Elizabeth Brown”
Leaning bluegrass-folk with a light, joyful.
🍃“In the Willows”
A slow, lazy-day song.
This is the moment when time loosens its grip. Birds overhead. Clouds drifting. Your attention pulled gently back toward nature.
🕊️ “Flying Things” (feat. The Secret Sisters)
One of those songs that feels innocent in the best way.
There’s a sweetness here — like seeing the world again with fresh eyes. The harmonies from The Secret Sisters lift the song into something magical.
✨ “Garvanza”
Playful, mesmerizing guitar work.
It feels like watching dragonflies dart and mingle in the air — translated into sound.
🎸 “Sylvie’s Guitar”
Soft, intimate, and atmospheric.
You can almost picture little Sylvie at the opening, gently picking out notes. It’s tender and full of quiet wonder.
❤️ Why It Matters to Us
Celestun isn’t trying to impress — it’s trying to connect.
It invites stillness. It rewards attention. It reminds you that beauty doesn’t need to be loud to be powerful.
This collaboration feels less like a “side project” and more like two longtime friends finally giving themselves the space to create something unhurried and honest. It’s music for mornings, for open windows, for moments when you want the world to slow down just a little. Every song brings something new.
We truly hope you listen to Celestun all the way through — start to finish.
