A Little of Our Story and a Lot of LOVE Songs 💜🎶

Updated: 1 day ago

At the very bottom of this article, we’ve included a playlist of some of our favorite love songs. Feel free to scroll down, press play, and simply listen.

If you’re interested in who we are here — and why February holds so much meaning for us — we invite you to read this entire piece.

Our greatest asset in this world is our hearts. And today, on Valentine’s Day, we shine ours bravely.

Historically, this day may have meant something different. But in our lives, it has long been known as LOVE Day — and we follow suit by pouring love out intentionally.

For us, love does not only mean being in a relationship. Love means loving yourself. Loving the souls who bring meaning to your day — human or animal. Loving and being grateful for what you DO have right now. Loving each other.

We do not know what others are walking through in this life. We are all beautifully different. All uniquely built. All carrying stories most will never see.

So today — we write this with love and gratefulness.

From lives shaped by music and hearts bigger than our bodies.

When we were young, our nickname was Be Bop — short for “Be-Bop-A-Lula” by Gene Vincent. It started as “Be Bop a Lu” and eventually became simply Be Bop. It feels poetic now, because music is not just something we listen to… it is who we are.

February is layered for us.

Our sister’s birthday is this month. Her birthstone was purple — the same color we have loved our entire lives. We grew up in Alaska, though we were born in the deep Southern humidity. Alaska was icy, cold and new to us — and it shaped us.

She was taken from this world by someone we both knew at different points in our lives.

Celebrating love this month feels like honoring her light.

In 2024, we also lost Scott suddenly to melanoma. Weeks later, our little dog Rocky passed away after struggling with Canine Cognitive Dysfunction. This platform is dedicated to them both — Scott, who shared music with us like oxygen, and Rocky, our little Yorkie who thought he was a Labrador.

Scott knew every chapter — the bright and the broken. He urged us to write a book.

He bought us a website we still haven’t used.

But we have begun.

Old Dogs Rock. Vibe USA.

This is where we start to leave something behind — slowly and intentionally — to honor our love for music, dogs, and the world around us.

We are not the same people we were before all of this happened. We are new. Built with gratitude. Focused forward.

We have lived in the icy cold of Alaska. We have lived in the lush beauty of the Pacific Northwest. We have lived along the coasts of California. We have lived in the deep humidity and amazing barbecue of Texas. And now, beneath the wide desert skies of Arizona.

We have watched the Northern Lights more times than we can count. We have floated in lakes while the Blue Angels flew overhead on perfect days. We have tasted food where the chef poured their HEART out. We are a safe space for our people. We are a safe space for animals. We are deep feelers of music.

So our plan now?

To leave a legacy of LOVE.

A love for dogs and music on Old Dogs Rock. A love for everything unique, quirky, endearing, and nostalgic about us here in the U.S. on Vibe USA.

If one day our ancestors look us up, we hope they read this and know exactly who we were — and what our HEART stood for.

And we leave you with a Love playlist.

Forty-four songs. Just over three hours. Songs from many eras, many genres, many styles — because love does not live in one lane.

You’ll hear timeless classics like Elvis’ “Can’t Help Falling in Love,” Etta James’ “At Last,” and Otis Redding’s “These Arms of Mine.” Songs that feel woven into the fabric of romance itself.

You’ll hear emotion poured straight through the speakers — Adele’s “To Make You Feel My Love” (we also love Tim McGraw’s version), Van Morrison’s “Into the Mystic,” and Florence + The Machine’s new “And Love,” reminding us that self-love matters too.

There’s soul in Ray Charles’ “Come Rain or Come Shine” (Don Henley sings it beautifully as well).

There are new wedding-worthy moments like Zac Brown Band’s “What You Gonna Do” and Nick Cave & Warren Ellis’ “Marry Me.”

There’s nostalgia wrapped in melody — Lionel Richie’s “You Are,” Whitney Houston’s “I Will Always Love You,” Tina Turner’s “The Best,” Sixpence None the Richer’s “Kiss Me,” and Sonny & Cher’s “I Got You Babe.”

There are blasts back in time — Tesla’s “Love Song,” Scorpions’ “Still Loving You,” Extreme’s “More Than Words,” The Carpenters’ (They Long to Be) Close to You, Kenny Rogers’ “You Decorated My Life,” and the Bee Gees’ “How Deep Is Your Love.”

We included songs made before our time that still feel alive today — like Peggy Lee’s “Wherever There’s Me There’s You.”

And newer voices too — Amber Mark’s “Sweet Serotonin,” Madison Beer’s “Make You Mine,” Elles Bailey’s “Blessed,” and others mentioned above — because love keeps evolving.

This playlist is joy.

It’s memories.

It’s LOVE.

Press play. Let it carry you.

Tell us your favorite love songs.
